I have a theme for 2010.
I wouldn’t have said theme if I hadn’t gone to a workshop tonight. A few wonderful Seattle ladies put on the event, called “Release & Renew” and it was free and fit into my work and commuting schedule.
I had a chance to finally purge myself of the negative thoughts and experiences that haunted me throughout 2009. I know 2010 isn’t going to magically be free of any bad thoughts or experiences, but I do know that I can make it a year in which I take great strides.
Right now, I’m going to withhold the details about what I discovered tonight. Those thoughts are safe in my physical journal– a journal I didn’t have until a vendor placed it on my desk while I was at lunch. I’ll take it as a sign.
However, I will share that we created themes for ourselves. When I first learned that, I thought, “Haha, what if I used the word ‘possimpible’ in my theme.” (“The Possimpible” is an episode of How I Met Your Mother. Watch it if you haven’t.) The more I thought about the possimpible, though, the more I realized that Barney Stinson had a point– the possimpible is where the impossible and the possible meet.
And if you reduce that down to where I’m currently at in life, I’m at a place where I want to do all these great things, but I’m too afraid. So I tell myself not to, or I make excuses as to why these things are a waste of time/money or just a generally bad idea.
No more. I have to stop. I have to take control of my own future and my own happiness. I have to make the impossible, possible.
So, I will believe in the impossible in 2010.
What will you do in 2010?
(Hopefully you’ll check out the following websites, both belonging to the people who made this insight possible tonight)
